As promised, I'm writing to show you how I made that cool fringe banner for Luke and Noah's birthday party for the low low cost of ... $4!
Materials: vinyl table loth (rectangle); scissors, stapler and a rotary cutter.
Step one: hit your local Dollar Tree store and pick up vinyl table cloths in your color choice for the whopping price of $1 each! Woot!
Step Two: Unfold the table cloth and then fold it lengthwise one time; use your scissors to cut the folded edge.
Step Three: Repeat the above step folding over the newly cut side and matching it to the bottom side; cut the seam again. Fold one final time (giving you a total of 8 layers on the open end; with the last fold you DO NOT CUT the seam! It will look like this:
Step four: Use a stapler or sewing machine to secure the folded side and lock it together. I used a stapler for one reason: EASY. It was so easy and not that visible. In fact, I could have used colored staples and not even seen the staples at all. Sewing would be CUTE but likely a lengthy process and a slippery one too!
Step Five: Pull out that rotary cutter (I used a straight edge for think a pinking egde would be really pretty and girly too!!) and simply cut one inch sections! I was rought with this and fast. I was working on a cement floor so I could easily do it!
Voila! Finished!
And here is a bunch I was working on. It took me 4 table cloths to cover my whole deck. I can see lots of uses for these for all sorts of parties. I considered putting another type of banner over it (the lightning mcqueen happy birthday one I had) but in the end like the simplicity of this red fringe!
This project took me 5 minutes from start to finish. I did one a day to prepare for the party in advance. SO EASY, even Bella could do it all by herself!
ENJOY and happy FRINGE benefits!
