A few updates to the boys bunk room were completed this weekend. After we'd wrapped up the majority of the room, we left it looking like this:

And, although the beds aren't made quite so neatly each day, the room still looked the same. I need to finish the hook wall and add the curtain. We did that together this weekend. We knew we wanted a pipe and pipe fitting to use as a curtain rod to keep the "industrial feel" of the room (other industrial elements for us are the concrete floor; lockers; casters on the train table, etc). So Mike measured and had it all cut then I had found a white curtain on sale at Target. It was a 96 inch curtain so we measured it then I cut it in half. I had plans to hem it legit, but in the end I used my rotary pinking cutter and called it a day. Bonus of the deal? Turns out to be two equal sections and now I have an "extra set" of curtains to use elsewhere in our house! Woot!

The curtains make a nice difference in the room. Understated but nice and boyish too while also bringing your eye up the wall. Yay!
The other thing to get up was magnet boards on the hook wall. When we designed this wall I wanted it to be as functional as possible. Our home already has storage issues so I wanted to use our space wisely. I thought if we put hooks along the walls then things like back packs, robes, jackets, hats and other misc things could hang there for the boys. I like how they turned. Another thing we considered was using an entire piece of sheet metal on top of the wall to create one giant magnet board. I still LOVE that idea and think it fits the industrial vibe ... but budget was running out and IKEA had these little boards that fit the bill perfectly. So I settled. (for now...)

As you can tell, this room is terribly lit. There is not much natural light at all in this room making for yucky pictures. Boo. However, the flip side is that it is a wonderful sleeping cave for my two boys who both love their cozy dark sleeping space. They are like little bears. ;)
Two more shots looking in from my craft space.

We are really all super pleased with the space. I won't call it done yet -- I still have some art work to gather and hang to really feel satisfied enough to call it done. But are any of our rooms here ever done? Um, no. They all continue to evolve ... as our life evolves! And so it goes!
ps. the matching dark blues on both sides of the room? A happy coincidence and some planning. for the train table I had paint mixed to match the lockers. After I hung the Pottery Barn backpacks, it was just a happy surprise that it all went together. I love when stuff like that happens! ;)
