There is a tradition that I love during the holiday season and that is the Annual Girls Dinner. Last year we hosted it at my friend Jen's house and this year, to keep things fresh, we hosted at mine. Together, we throw a mean party (if I do say so myself). It consisted of a private PIN board to brainstorm ideas and ALWAYS has a "signature drink" of the night.
I'd like to say that this year, it turned out really, really great. Here are a couple of things I was pinning for inspiration.
I was really hoping for "simple rustic chic" in the look and I think we pulled that off. Jen has these gorgeous lanterns that I used as well as pulling other household odds and ends together -- like pine cones, gold spray painted containers, twigs from my boxwood plants outside and the perfect table cloth -- Hallmark roll wrap! I'm in LOVE with this idea. I didn't see it anywhere, I just fell in love with the paper and thought "I should us that!" Then, I also used Hallmark gift tags to hand create place cards. In the end it was VERY simple, with a big impact.
We were pleased.
OH. And what was the cocktail? It was a modified version of this. We made it as directed and it was a little chunky with the cranberries. So we made it "on the rocks" and used the cranberries as a garnish. In fact, Jen used the cranberries as "drink markers" each person had a certain number of cranberries to keep track of their drink! Genius!
At our party, we also had a gift exchange. In the past, it was white elephant. We still did it "white elephant style" in choosing and stealing but to choose WHO got to pick first or next we played "minute to win it" Christmas themed games. It was A BLAST! I'd highly recommend browsing Pinterest for a few easy and fun ideas to do this! SO FUN!
Cheers to another annual party night of success, cheer, good fun and of course FABULOUS friends. I am blessed.
