If you are no stranger to Pinterest then you have likely seen the Chocolate Cake in a Mug pin. Yes? I pinned this the other day thinking "this would be a great snow day activity!" Low and behold, push came to shove and us Minnesnowtans were "awarded" a snow day. Time to anty up and get the mug a cooking.
First off. Read the comments in the things you PIN. So important. Some things work, some do not. How else would we use #fail? Some things deserve the #fail. And some things are great. This blogger admits that she tweaked and tweaked this recipe to get it right and it took her many tries. Her failed attempts? MY GAIN! By the time this recipe was posted, she'd uncovered the bugs! Sweet!
Here was my result!
Um, YUM. I followed the recipe and only changed the canola oil to of course, coconut oil. A yummy change. Also, pay attention to the wattage on your microwave. She has a lower wattage than me and she cooked her cake for 3 minutes. My cakes cooked perfectly in 1 minute 45 seconds. FYI.
Bella opted for a Vanilla cake which was easier to make, did in fact cook in one minute and was delicious. It was also simpler only because I used frosting we had on hand instead of whipping up my own. I also made a GF version of the vanilla cake that tasted awful but somehow Noah thought it was divine.
The chocolate cake was DECEDENT. It had a very "adult" flavor to it, like you'd order it at a restaurant. Luke proclaimed, "it tastes like poop." And I'd say if that is what poop tastes like...then poop is GOOD. I ate the rest of his poop. Afterall, I earned it after hauling his poop butt up and down that darn sled hill yesterday!!! :)
